Caitlin's Thoughts

  I am here to help!

The phrase, “Eating for Two”, although common and often offered as nutrition advice for pregnant women today, is confusing and not very accurate. The reality is your energy (calorie) needs don’t actually increase much in pregnancy (300-500 calories/day). However, your nutritional needs increase significantly as your body works to grow your beautiful baby.

It can be challenging and often overwhelming  to eat the needed healthy foods to accommodate your body's nutrient needs while managing nausea, fatigue, heartburn, vomiting and all the other symptoms that often accompany women while they are pregnant.

At each consultation, we will discuss your current eating patterns and set goals to help ensure that you are meeting the needs of you and your growing baby. In order to make the most use of our time, I recommend you send your midwife your latest food sheets, a list of all supplements you are currently taking, and any nutrition concerns or questions you have  so that we can create goals that meet your specific needs. Additional consultations are available upon request.
